Ingredients:

  • 500 g mushrooms, cleaned and cut into slices
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup white wine (optional)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable or chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Chopped fresh parsley to decorate

Instructions:

  1. Mushroom Preparation:
    • Wipe the mushrooms with a damp cloth or soft brush to remove any dirt. If necessary, you can peel them lightly.
    • Cut the mushrooms into uniform slices.
  2. Cooking the Mushrooms:
    • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
    • Add the mushrooms and cook for about 5 minutes until they are golden brown and have released some of their water.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
    • If desired, add white wine to deglaze the pan, scrape up any residue stuck to the bottom, and let the alcohol evaporate.
  3. Flavoring and Additional Cooking:
    • Add salt, pepper and dried thyme to the pan. Mix well.
    • Pour the vegetable or chicken broth into the pan and cook over medium heat for about 10-15 minutes until the mushrooms are tender and have absorbed the flavors.
  4. Finished with Parmesan Cheese:
    • Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the mushrooms and mix to melt and combine.
    • Cook for a few additional minutes until the mixture has a creamy, delicious consistency.
  5. Presentation:
    • Serve the garlic mushrooms with Parmesan cheese on a plate, sprinkle fresh chopped parsley on top for a touch of freshness.
