Can expired yeast be used? Yes, make a fertilizer!
Do not throw away expired brewer’s yeast, you would make a serious mistake. You can use it for your plants.
Brewer’s yeast is an essential ingredient for the preparation of sweets and savory doughs, but it has a short shelf life. If the brewer’s yeast deteriorates and is therefore no longer valid, its color will change from a pleasant beige to a pale gray, or mold-like spots may appear on its surface. If you observe these changes, brewer’s yeast will no longer be suitable for your culinary preparations. However, it may not show any visible changes. In this case, you can test its validity by dissolving it in a glass of warm water (not hot, as this would kill it) with a teaspoon of sugar.
