Keep your pasta sauce fresh for up to six months with the undeniable ice cube tray trick!

Typically, pasta sauce lasts an average of three to four days in the refrigerator if stored in the right conditions.

Fortunately, there are  a multitude of ways to extend their lifespan  so you can enjoy them for longer.

The best way to store pasta sauce is in glass bottles or other airtight containers.

Then seal it well and place it in the refrigerator. This way, it can  last at least four or five days.

However, if you don’t use the sauce within a week, it’s best to store it in the freezer.

To do this, place it in small containers. However, if you have a lot of free space,  use freezer bags.  Then, defrost the sauce at room temperature for a few hours instead of using the microwave.

According to pasta experts, freezing the sauce is a way to preserve its authentic flavor  for up to about six months . However, they recommend consuming the sauce within a day or two, unless it has been frozen to ensure its fresh flavor.

In general, tomato-based sauces used for first courses stay fresh for longer thanks to the acidity of the tomato which acts as a natural preservative. Milk-based sauces, such as carbonara, on the other hand, can be enjoyed immediately.
