How to make a Prism Party quilt

At first glance, you might think that this quilt is very complicated and challenging to make, especially if you are a beginner, but once you learn how to make this quilt, you will be surprised to know that it is actually very easy to make. And what makes it even better is that all it takes to make it is a jelly roll, convenient, colorful and fun. Check out this video tutorial from Revelation Quilts on YouTube and see for yourself!

Materials:

  •  jelly roll
  • Pen, pencil or chalk for marking
  • Ruler
  • Scissors or cutter and a cutting mat
  • Needle and thread
  • Iron,  for pressing
  • Sewing machine

Directions:

Phase 1

Choose 4 jelly strips and alternate dark and light colors, then sew them together and press the seams towards the darker fabric. Trim straight edges, then cut the strip unit into 8-inch squares, turn the squares so they look diamond-shaped, and line them up diagonally from corner to corner. Cut an inch away from either side of the center line, then take the center strip and twist it to create the disappearing part.Image credit: Revelation Quilts via YouTube

Phase 2

You can also mix and match the center stripe with other stripe units you’ve made to make the colors pop even more, then once you’ve finished arranging the block with the center stripe you want, sew them together with the seams nestled tightly as demonstrated in videos, and then press to open them as you go. Cut the block into a nice 7 inch square, then assemble 4 of these blocks and sew them together making sure to press them open every now and then.
