Slow Cooker Roast Pork

Ingredients:

  • 2 kg pork shoulder or roast pork
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or pork broth
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Meat

  1. Pat the pork shoulder dry with kitchen paper to ensure it is dry.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub this mixture over the pork shoulder, making sure to coat all sides.

Step 2: Brown the Meat (optional)

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Brown the pork shoulder in the skillet on all sides until golden brown. This step is optional but helps seal the juices into the meat and improves the flavor.

Step 3: Place in the Slow Cooker

  1. Transfer the browned pork shoulder to the slow cooker.

Step 4: Prepare the Sauce

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, Dijon mustard, honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar.
  2. Pour this mixture over the pork shoulder in the slow cooker.

Step 5: Cook over low heat

  1. Simmer the pork shoulder for 6-8 hours on low or 4-6 hours on high, until the meat is tender and falls apart easily.

Step 6: Crumble and Serve

  1. Remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks.
  2. If you wish, you can serve the roast pork with the sauce from the pot on top.

Step 7: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Serve the roast pulled pork in sandwiches, tacos, or with rice or salad.
  2. Ready to enjoy a delicious roast pork!

This slow cooker roast pork recipe is perfect for occasions when you want a juicy, flavorful meal with minimal effort. I hope you enjoy it!
