If you love daisies, here are some valuable tips to make them shine at home

Daisies are typical flowers of gardens and large open spaces. Think of the countryside! But they can also be grown in pots at home. You should know that among   balcony flowers,  daisies are also among the simplest! They are simple and wonderful flowers, with long white petals (there are also daisies of different colors), and they always give us a smile.

Potted daisies  have a very long flowering period: they bloom at the end of April and remain in bloom until September. They are flowers of innocent love.

how do I grow daisy

Let’s discover together how to care for these wonderful and simple flowers. Daisies can be grown anywhere. They are very rustic, which makes them suitable for any type of environment and  they grow without too many problems  .

The best pots for growing daisies are terracotta pots, but plastic pots are fine too. Daisies grow well and without problems, but be careful to choose pots with a diameter of at least 15 centimeters, to maintain the humidity that these flowers need to grow healthy.

When to plant daisies

Once you have purchased one or more pots, soil and  daisy seeds  , the planting operation should be carried out at the end of February-mid-March. Put  some expanded clay  at the bottom of the pot and cover it with soil. Then we spread the seeds, covering them with a thin layer of soil. Finally, we cover the  pot  with transparent paper to achieve a greenhouse effect that will favor the germination of the seeds. The daisies will be ready to be transplanted into a larger pot in mid-spring!

Where should the daisy be placed?

Daisies do not need any particular care, just water them to give them the energy needed to continue  blooming  for a long time. They love sunny spaces but we try not to place them in  direct sunlight  for too long. This prevents the leaves from burning. It is okay to expose them for five hours a day on the balcony.

As for fertilization, it is important to carry it out in spring so that the plant thrives as much as possible.

Daisy Plant Pruning

The daisy should be pruned at least twice a year: during spring, before it begins to bloom at its peak, and after flowering, that is, in late autumn. To prune it, just remove the dry branches.

Why doesn’t the daisy bloom in a pot?

As we said, if we fertilize the daisy at the beginning of spring, we will have guaranteed flowering. When the plant has yellow leaves it is necessary to water it. The main reason why the daisy can dry out or not bloom is due to lack of water, but also for other reasons, such as prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, or because it is affected by aphids. Just find out the cause to solve the problem.

water the daisies

Daisies need a lot of water, especially in summer. Its irrigation depends on the climate. They usually need daily watering but, if they are exposed to very hot areas or during the month of August, it may be necessary to water even  twice a day  . The ideal time to offer water would be early in the morning or in the afternoon when the sun has already set, so as not to create thermal shock for the roots.
