How to use lemon seeds

Lemons are citrus fruits highly appreciated for their unique flavor and their versatility in both cooking and household chores. Precious source of vitamin C, their natural acidity also makes them useful for digestion, helping to reduce the feeling of bloating. Widespread in the Mediterranean, their ancient origins date back to the Asian countries from which they were imported thanks to trade.

Widely used in the kitchen, to season dishes, prepare sauces but also desserts, for which the zest is mostly used, not only the seeds of lemons, but also the peels are among the ingredients always present in homes . And if we usually use the juice, pulp and peel of lemons, why should we throw away the seeds ? Here are some ways to make the best use of them.lemons – imilanesi.nanopress.it

Once you have finished using the lemon, set the seeds aside and rinse them thoroughly with room temperature water using a strainer. Then pass them over a paper towel and dry them thoroughly. Then, get a pair of tweezers and start “peeling” the seeds by removing the skin that covers them.

Then take a small container like a yogurt jar and fill it with damp cotton wool. Place the seed in the cotton wool and let it rest for at least a week . After about 7 days, the seed will have given way to a small sprout.

Continue to keep the cotton wool and the environment humid to further grow your little sprout until it has developed small roots. At this point you will have to plant your seed in a small pot inside which you will have to insert a mixture of soil and perlite , to ensure that the soil is well drained. Once planted, the sprout will still need care. It will have to be kept in a well-lit spot, warm but away from drafts. Make sure that the soil is always moist and wait for nature to take its course to have a lemon plant that, once grown, will give you juicy fruits.

Make a perfumer

Lemon seeds are not only used to grow new plants. Among other things, it is possible to create a perfumer for drawers and wardrobes . The primary procedure always requires the seeds to be rinsed but without removing the skin. Despite washing, citrus seeds retain their natural scent for a long time.Lemon seeds – imilanesi.nanopress.it

You can then put them in a cloth bag and choose to use them to perfume drawers, wardrobes or areas of the house such as the bathroom. If attached to the radiator in winter, they will release a delicious lemon scent. All you have to do is try and choose the best way to exploit the seeds of a citrus fruit with many characteristics.
