How to intelligently recycle old sweaters

For a truly special Christmas you could choose to make the decorations for the house yourself, perhaps with the help of our children.Candela-Imilanesi.nanopress.it

The holidays are now upon us. If we love this unique atmosphere , we are certainly already thinking about how to decorate our home. We know well that there are all kinds of objects in shopping centers or shops.

But this year we could try a different route, and create our own decorations. Nothing gives more satisfaction than seeing an object take shape and complete thanks to our commitment and dedication.

True works of art albeit with different talents and results. We can feel a bit like artists as well as spending less, using what we already have and not fueling the use of plastic. Let us be inspired, therefore, by creative ideas with the recycling of old sweaters .

If we don’t have any we can always find some in second hand shops, or in markets that sell for charity. We will certainly find what we need. The possibilities are many and unique decorations can be obtained .

Little trees and gnomes

To create, for example, mini Christmas trees, all we need is a cork , of the type used for sparkling wine, and a small  triangular cutout of the sweater. We roll the wool several times to give the right pointed shape .

And also the right consistency for the foliage of our fir tree. We then secure the final flap with wire or hot glue . If necessary we fill with wadding to give support. Finally we insert the cap as a trunk, always stopping it with glue .

In the same way we can make small hats for gnomes, whose body is always made up of the same cap . The lower part should be covered with a piece of wool that acts as a dress.

On this we can sew buttons or bows. On the top we glue the hat , leaving only a small segment of the cap for the face to emerge. We draw the eyes and the mouth and conclude with decorations of your choice.Wool sweaters-Imilanesi.nanopress.it

We can also use this procedure   to make small Santa Clauses . In this case we add a mini wooden or cotton sphere in place of the nose and stuff the hood so that it remains very straight.

Wool and pine cones

Another creation could be a dress for the cup or for a glass candle holder . We use a narrow part of the sweater, for example the turtleneck collar , cut it lengthwise and leave the side open for the possible handle.

We then put some buttons or ribbons to close the flaps around it. We also sew colored pieces of fabric or stars. We glue some piñatas , cinnamon sticks, slices of dried orange or berries in perfect Christmas style.
