How to make enriched water to stimulate and increase plant flowering.

Seeing our plants bloom is one of the greatest achievements for any gardener, whether experienced or beginner.

Flowers are often the reason we buy our plants. However, sometimes we fail to get them to bloom.

Not all plants flower, but it is true that many do not because they do not find their ideal conditions of light, irrigation, temperature and many other factors that can affect their flowering.

For example, plants such as sansevieria, trunk of happiness or monstera delicious are associated with beautiful leaves, but few know that they can also flower.

Why aren’t my plants flowering? There are many factors that can influence the lack of flowering of plants, but first we must identify the type of plant and find out about its ideal conditions, as well as know its age.

Plants do not flower until they reach a certain level of maturity. Some can take years to produce their first flowers, so it is important to know each species.

The main factors that influence the flowering of plants are:

  1. Lack of light. Each plant has specific light needs. If you place a plant that needs a lot of light in the shade, it will obviously not flower. The same thing happens the other way around.
  2. Temperature. Extreme cold can kill a plant’s buds or make flowers short-lived. Therefore, you should make sure you choose the right ones based on where you live.
  3. Irrigation. A dry plant will never have the energy necessary to flower. On the other hand, a plant that receives too much water can die or become covered in fungus, so it will not flower.
  4. Lack of nutrients. Just like any other living thing, plants also need adequate nutrients, and when they are lacking, plants stop growing, do not flower, or wilt. An excess of nutrients can also be harmful.
  5. Insects or diseases. Insects weaken our plants, taking away the energy necessary to flourish. It is important to keep scale insects or ants away from our plants, which can literally colonize them.

How to prepare a fertilizer that activates flowering: Lack of nutrients is one of the reasons why our plant does not flower. Nutrients such as phosphorus and potassium are important to stimulate flowering, and this is where fertilizers come into play, substances that provide nutrients that plants can assimilate.

To help plants bloom faster and more abundantly, you need two ingredients : 50 grams of fresh ginger and half a cinnamon stick.

Cut the ginger into small pieces and grind it together with the cinnamon. You can do it in a blender or food processor.

Once you have a moist and homogeneous mixture, place it in a glass jar with a lid and store it in the refrigerator.

To prepare the fertilizer, mix half a teaspoon of the ginger and cinnamon mixture with a liter of water. Let it sit for a couple of hours and then use the solution to water plants that are not blooming.

Fresh ginger, in small quantities, is a great ally for plants. This root is an excellent source of potassium, an essential nutrient for flowering, and its aroma will keep insects away.

Cinnamon can stimulate root growth and is very useful against plant fungi, which are often the cause of a lack of flowering.
