Garlic is one of the easiest and cheapest plants to grow in pots at home. It is an essential part of cooking, has countless health benefits and is often used as a natural remedy.
Garlic has many healing properties: it is rich in nitrogenous substances, sodium, potassium, selenium, calcium, magnesium, silicon, phosphoric acid, vitamins C, D and B, phytosterols and essential oils.
It also contains allicin, which is formed during the mechanical destruction of plants, so grinding or crushing garlic brings the maximum benefit of its properties. Studies have shown that allicin has a strong bacteriostatic effect, allowing infections to be treated more quickly.
To grow garlic in a pot, all you need is:
- A clove of garlic, a container and soil.
- Take the container and fill it with potting soil. Separate the garlic cloves and press them into the soil about 3 centimeters deep, holding them vertically.
- Place the container in a part of the house exposed to sunlight and water it as you would any other plant when the soil dries out.
- When the plant reaches 7 to 10 cm in height, cut it back, leaving 2 to 3 cm for regrow. After a while, the plants dry out and turn brown. It’s time to remove them from the ground, each clove has formed a bulb with different segments. Take one of these corners and repeat the process.
