Poinsettia   is a beautiful plant, with a meaning and a story that transports you to the past Unique in its species, few know that it is not the flowers that acquire that typical red color of Christmas but its enormous leaves. The flowers remain inside and are identified with a yellow hue in the shape of a small ball. The question that often arises spontaneously is where to place the Christmas Star and, above all, can we place it on the landing without it suffering? The nurserymen have decided to respond clearly  once and for all.

Poinsettia: is it a difficult plant to have at home?

The Christmas star is a  plant native to Mexico  that little by little has become the symbol of the holidays. It is good to buy it to enrich the Christmas decorated house or as a gift. In fact, it is said to be a symbolic gift of value, giving the person something that can bring good luck for the coming year.

Those who do not have gardening skills may have difficulty with this plant, because it requires special attention in  terms of watering and placement  . For example, many people usually put this plant on the landing of the house as a Christmas gift and to give a touch of celebration to the outside: but is it possible to do it or is there a problem?

Can I put the Christmas Star on the landing? Experts respond

What  worries  poinsettia expert nurserymen the most is the exposure temperature. Although it is a true protagonist of the cold winter, it is good to know that it does not tolerate low temperatures. The landing of the house does not usually have a very high temperature even if it is not directly outside.

That’s not all, among the needs of this plant we must also take care of lighting. In fact, it is thanks to the light – not direct – that it can boast the  bright red and green color  it presents throughout the year, especially in winter.

The landing is certainly bright, but in most cases these are artificial LED lights that also turn on at night (according to condominium rules).

The  concept is the following  : the Christmas Star must be able to use non-direct light for at least six hours and as many hours of darkness for its rest.

If we talk about landing, there is also the issue of ventilation, because some expose the Christmas plant to cold drafts. This type of plant must be protected from drafts, because it runs the risk of being damaged and then dying. The moment the plant  begins to lose its leaves  , it means that it is suffering and the sudden changes are making it sick.

To do? Nurserymen recommend carefully evaluating the type of planting and only if it has all favorable conditions, placing the plant near the door.
