Washing machine, a little is enough: clothes will smell great for days

If you don’t like the scents of fabric softeners on the market, you can make a laundry perfumer yourself. Here’s how to do it.

Often, the smell of detergents or fabric softeners is very strong and persistent on clothes. Sometimes they can even become unpleasant when they infiltrate between the fibers of the tissues. For many people, however, they are a real nightmare: thanks to the wrong doses, you often end up with itching and decidedly too strong odors. However, some detergents and fabric softeners have odors that are too chemical to be tolerated on sheets, for example. Fortunately,  there are many unscented detergents on the market  , most of them ecological and anti-allergic. But what to do if we want to give a specific but light aroma to our laundry? Simple, with the right perfumers.

Laundry perfumers

Precisely thanks to the spread of hypoallergenic, tap and ecological detergents, which normally do not have added perfumes,  laundry perfumers have experienced widespread diffusion  . These are mainly products that are added to the washing machine (but also to hand washes) with the sole purpose of leaving a pleasant smell on the clothes being washed. There are many types and many fragrances, but  it is also possible to make them at home and obtain excellent results  .

So let’s see how to prepare a homemade laundry perfumer to add to our washes. The ingredients are few and easy to find. We will need  coarse salt, baking soda and one or more essential oils  of natural origin.

Prepare a homemade scent for clothes

The ingredients are not chosen at random, they have excellent properties for washing clothes. The coarse salt will act together with the detergent to better remove stains while the baking soda will provide its sanitizing action.

The process to do it  is also very simple, just pour 1 and a half cups of coarse salt, half a cup of baking soda and 30 or 40 drops of a natural essential oil into a bowl (the amount depends on your tastes). Once all the ingredients have been added, it is time to  mix everything well with a spoon  .

When the mixture is uniform, it should be transferred to an airtight jar. Shake the jar well to give it a final mixture, making sure it is tightly closed to avoid disasters. This way we will have  aromatic salts ready to add to our laundry  .

How to use homemade laundry freshener

Using a homemade clothes freshener is very simple. Once you have placed the clothes to be washed in the washing machine drum,  simply add one or two tablespoons directly to the drum  , depending on the amount of clothes to be washed.

Then proceed with the usual addition of detergent and fabric softener in the corresponding drawer and start washing the clothes properly. It is very important not to do without fabric softener.

In fact, especially in winter, the fabric softener performs an essential action, that of reducing static electricity. So in addition to softening clothes, it is very functional. There are many on the market without fragrance,  so that your personal perfumer stands out to the maximum  .
