Not everyone knows it, but putting a handful of salt under your pillow can solve many problems.
It is a highly prized ingredient in cooking, used since the dawn of time mainly to give flavor to dishes . When used in moderation, it is beneficial for our health because it regulates blood pressure. You should never overdo it, as it could have unpleasant consequences such as cardiovascular diseases, fluid retention, poor blood circulation.
Its use, however, goes beyond the purely gastronomic field.
Salt can also help us with household chores: having abrasive power, in fact, it can free us from the arduous task of peeling pots. Simply add it to the vinegar and hot water in the bottom of a pan, let it sit, and rinse to remove any food residue. Not only that, we can use it to polish dull cutlery , with a water-based paste poured flush, or to clean the floor , of course, then we must rinse.
And there’s even more: mixed with extra virgin olive oil, it creates a natural and effective exfoliant for facial skin. Try it, you will eliminate dead cells and impurities and your appearance will be younger and fresher.
There are also many beliefs related to salt. There are those who claim that it wards off bad luck and carries a full bag tied tightly in its pocket.
The practice of putting it under the bed, however, is not linked to a magical tradition, but rather has a real function, explained by science.
Let’s see why it would be convenient to do so, especially in summer.
Get out under the pillow: to sleep better
Salt has water-collecting power, that is, it is capable of attracting excess water to itself, absorbing it like a sponge. The same mechanism also occurs with respect to the humidity present in the air.
During the night, our body, especially during the heat of summer, releases heat which, in contact with colder air, turns into water vapor and therefore humidity. It is not uncommon to wake up sweaty or suffer from joint pain when we wake up. A bowl of salt, preferably a large one, can help us decisively mitigate this problem.
Try to place it under the bed, at the height of the pillow if your neck hurts. And if you have trouble falling asleep, add a few drops of bergamot or lavender essential oil. Both promote falling asleep, relax and soothe the nervous system.
Check the container from time to time and when you notice water at the bottom, empty it and prepare a new one.
