It’s time to furnish the garden and terrace with all the accessories: let’s get out the garden chairs and everything you need.
But first, as we do with every room in our home, let’s clean the outside environment well. We cut the floor, collect the leaves, enrich the corners with splashes of color and flowering plants, go over the railings, perhaps paint them if rust has eaten away at the plaster for some time. Let’s remove the weeds and moss between the tiles and on the walls, wash the curtains or umbrellas with the pump, in short, let’s take care of our outdoor space diligently, but without getting tired, step by step.
And when everything seems to be well organized, then we can also organize the table and chairs. Here, however, it immediately catches the eye when the furniture is also dirty.
Especially if they are made of plastic, they are yellowed or blackened by dust, humidity, wear, as if winter had left a patina of gray on the surfaces.
Let’s not be discouraged, there is a remedy for everything!
Follow our advice step by step and in no time they will dazzle us again!
I cleaned my lawn chairs and my friends were amazed!
Plastic chairs and tables are perfect for decorating terraces and gardens: the material they are made of is economical, light to transport and resistant. But unfortunately, it gets absorbed due to chemical porosity, dust and dirt . Let’s not be too alarmed, because in reality with very little maintenance we can return them to new condition.
If we really can’t give up chemicals, we can clean them with a mixture of bleach and degreaser . But it would be better to use natural ingredients , for our health, the environment and for better conservation of the furniture. Bleach, in fact, has a corrosive power that could eventually compromise the plastic and make it more flexible.
So let’s turn to grandmothers’ remedies and as they teach us, first of all we dust the surfaces well to remove the most obvious dirt.
Use a damp microfiber cloth and clean it well, even between the crevices.
Now let’s get some baking soda: its slightly abrasive action allows us to remove scale without scratching the surfaces. In addition, it has known whitening properties.
However, let’s not use it alone. It is best to combine it with classic dishwashing liquid, perhaps the best degreaser in terms of grease and grease stains. Just a few drops are enough to add to two teaspoons of baking soda. Mix well to obtain a dense and full-bodied paste . Now let’s place it on chairs and table. Let it sit for at least half an hour, then wipe it off with a sponge. If there are difficult deposits, we can also scrub with a brush or repeat the operation until we obtain the desired result.
Let it dry in the sun and enjoy the result.
However, from now on, until it’s time to pick it up again, let’s spend some quality time with the furniture and clean it every ten days or so with hot water and Marseille soap.
It doesn’t take much to always keep them immaculate and wow your friends!
