How can you effectively eliminate the smell of garlic or onion from your fingers?

Garlic and onion are two essential condiments in the kitchen. They are used as ingredients to flavor various dishes. However, even if they give a specific flavor to preparations, they have  a major drawback . After handling them, these two ingredients leave  an unbearable odor on your fingers .

And if you don’t get rid of it in time, the smell can linger for days. But don’t worry, this small inconvenience can disappear thanks to some essential tips. All you have to do is choose the solution that best suits you.

Use a stainless steel kitchen utensil to scrub your fingers.

To neutralize bad odors from your fingers, the simplest trick is to  rub your fingers vigorously with a stainless steel kitchen utensil  such as a spoon, passing them under water. Stainless steel is a material that attracts and removes bad odors thanks to  a chemical reaction called oxidation-reduction .

Using coffee grounds or baking soda

If you want to naturally eliminate unpleasant odors that stick to your fingers due to garlic or onion, rely on the effectiveness of baking soda. To do this,  put a teaspoon of baking soda on your hands and rub them together vigorously . Proceed in the same way with the  coffee grounds . These two products have an exfoliating action that neutralizes odors in a short time.

Take the toothpaste

If toothpaste takes care of your teeth on a daily basis, this time we will use it for your hands. While it may seem surprising, it is a remarkably effective product for getting rid of unwanted scents left on your fingers. To do this, put a pinch of toothpaste on your hands, rub and then rinse under running water.

This technique not only eliminates the intense odors of onion and garlic, but also those of fish and shellfish. However, do not use toothpaste too regularly as this may damage your skin. Toothpaste contains irritants that can cause redness.

Extract the lemon juice

Bad odors on your hands will disappear like magic if  you use lemon juice . To do this, squeeze a lemon to extract the juice. Place it in a small bowl and  dip your fingers in it for 2 minutes . Then rinse with cold water. You can also use orange pulp instead of lemon juice.
