HOW TO CLEAN STICKY WOOD IN THE KITCHEN


Wood  is a timeless material, which gives a feeling of warmth to  the home and gives a unique welcoming tone.

When you also have it in the kitchen, however, it is very easy for the  surfaces of the furniture to become sticky  due to the accumulation of residues and grease.

Luckily, there are some fantastic, natural remedies to not only clean sticky wood, but also polish it from top to bottom. Let’s discover together all the tricks you can use and obtain an impeccable kitchen!

Marseille soap

At the top of the list of remedies you can use for your wood is  Marseille soap  which, with its degreasing and cleaning properties, proves to be a precious ally in cleaning sticky wood.

In fact, it will be fantastic  for removing even the most stubborn encrustations  that mostly affect the area under the furniture, with all the splashes and vapors from the kitchen.

Mix a  diluted solution of Marseille soap in warm water  and use a soft cloth to clean the affected surfaces. Scrub until all the dirt is gone and rinse thoroughly.

Sodium bicarbonate

Baking  soda  is a delicate abrasive and a powerful cleaning agent, so you won’t be able to give up using it  to clean kitchen wood.

In this case you will have to create a thick paste with  2 tablespoons  of bicarbonate and  water  until you obtain the consistency of a gel.

Apply it  on a soft sponge , pass it over the furniture and leave to act for a few minutes before rubbing with a damp cloth. This step will effectively remove sticky buildup without damaging the wood finish.

Finally rinse and done!

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is  known for its polishing and degreasing properties, it will be of great help  to rekindle your wood  if it is particularly dull.

Mix  equal parts water and apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle  and spray it on the tacky surface of the wood; Leave it to act for a few minutes then rub gently with a cloth dampened in water and move on to cleaning the wood.

It won’t take long for the apple cider vinegar to dissolve the sticky residue and give the wood a natural freshness!

This remedy can also be ideal for cleaning the wood every day, in order to maintain its shine over time.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice not   only adds a fresh note to kitchen wood, but is also an effective natural degreaser.

The most famous citrus fruit in the world, together with the vinegar we have just seen, is one of the most loved and appreciated solutions for eliminating sticky stains that usually arise in the kitchen.

Press and filter the juice of a lemon ; then mix it with a little water and  apply this solution on the sticky areas , using a soft sponge.

Leave it to act for a few minutes before drying with a cloth. Lemon will be essential to eliminate stickiness and perfume the environment.

Cleaning spray

And why not  prepare a real cleaning spray  to use every time the wood in the kitchen becomes sticky?

An effective solution can be prepared by mixing  1 glass of water ,  2 glasses of apple cider vinegar  and  3 drops of essential oil  such as tea tree or lavender.

This spray is effective in daily cleaning of wood, especially in areas most prone to becoming sticky. Spray the solution and wipe with a cloth to keep the wood fresh and free of residue.
