Homemade and Crispy French Fries

Homemade potato chips are an irresistible classic and making them crispy at home is easier than you think. Here is a recipe to prepare some delicious “Krosse Hausgemachte Pommes” in Spanish.

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes (preferably frying variety, such as russet potatoes)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional seasonings (pepper, paprika, garlic powder, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. Wash and Peel the Potatoes:
    • Wash the potatoes well under running water and peel them. If you prefer, you can leave the skin for more rustic fries.
  2. Cut into Canes:
    • Cut the potatoes into thin, uniform sticks. Make sure they are a similar size so they cook evenly.
  3. Optional Soaking:
    • If you have time, you can soak the potato sticks in cold water for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes the potatoes crispier.
  4. Drying:
    • After soaking, dry the potato sticks well with kitchen paper to remove moisture.
  5. Prepare the Oil:
    • Heat the oil in a large frying pan or deep fryer to a temperature of approximately 175-180°C.
  6. Fry potatoes:
    • Fry the potato sticks in small batches to prevent clumping and ensure even cooking. Cook until golden and crispy.
  7. Drain and Dry:
    • Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and place them on kitchen paper to drain excess oil. Sprinkle salt and seasonings to taste while they are still hot.
  8. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Serve the crispy fries immediately. You can accompany them with sauces, dressings or enjoy them alone.

Additional Tips:

  • Experiment with seasonings to give your fries a unique touch. Pepper, paprika, garlic powder or even fresh herbs can add extra flavor.
  • Make sure the potatoes are very dry before frying to avoid hot oil splattering.
  • You can use an electric fryer for easier and more controlled cooking.

Enjoy your homemade Krosse Hausgemachte Pommes and delight your palate with the delicious crunchy texture of these irresistible potato chips!
