Toxic-free glue: make a natural glue at home, that’s what you need

Glues can be of different types and compositions, but they all have the objective of forming a strong bond between the materials to be joined. However, they may contain toxic or harmful chemicals, while toxin-free glue is formulated with natural ingredients or with synthetic ingredients considered safe for the environment and human health.

The toxin-free glue

Toxin-free glues, on the other hand, are formulated with ingredients that are not harmful to the environment or human health. For example, a toxin-free glue can be made with natural ingredients such as corn starch, flour or gum arabic, white vinegar, or with synthetic ingredients such as water-based polymers. In addition, toxin-free glues are often used in applications that require greater attention to safety, such as in the food industry, in the production of children’s toys or in the creation of manual and craft work. However, they can also be useful for anyone who wants to use safer and more environmentally friendly products in their daily life.

Glues can be based on natural substances, such as animal glue, which is obtained by boiling animal tissues such as skin or tendons, or based on synthetic substances, such as polymer-based glues such as vinyl glue or epoxy glue, the latter considered respectful of the environment and without danger to human well-being. Toxin-free glues are typically biodegradable and non-toxic to the environment, making them a more sustainable option than traditional glues. Using toxin-free glues can be a way to reduce your exposure to harmful chemicals and promote a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle.

How to make a natural glue at home

Among the toxic-free glues that can be made at home, today I propose the glue made with vinegar and flour. It is a homemade glue, which can be used to glue paper, cardboard and other similar materials. It is a glue free of toxins and solvents, since the ingredients used are all natural. To make this glue, mix 1 cup of water with 1/3 cup of flour and boil. Keep stirring until the mixture becomes thick and smooth. Then add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and mix well. Let the glue cool for a few minutes before using it. You can store the glue in an airtight container in the refrigerator for several days. This glue is very easy to prepare and does not contain dangerous chemicals.
