The first trap is the one based on the use of apple cider vinegar .
In fact, flies cannot resist the aroma created by fermentation. The product used is actually based on fermented apples , which is why flies cannot stay away from the vinegar.
For greater effectiveness, you can heat apple cider vinegar. This is because the heat allows the vinegar smell to emanate.
You will need a jar and a piece of paper rolled into a funnel, 12 cl of apple cider vinegar , a maximum of a few drops of detergent and you can choose whether or not to add a piece of ripe fruit .
After heating the apple cider vinegar, you can pour it into the bottle, adding the drops of detergent. The latter will reduce the tension on the surface of the vinegar.
Then, insert the funnel into the jar, with a hole in the bottom for the flies to enter. Once inside, they will never be able to get out and will drown.
If they don’t drown, you can place the jar in the freezer for 20 minutes.
The fruit trap, on the other hand, is made with these ingredients: stretch film, a vase, ripe fruit, toothpick and soapy water .
Place the pieces of fruit in the jar and close it with cling film, pierced with a toothpick.
Place it at strategic points around the house, so flies will enter through the holes without being able to get out . Finally, you will have to soak the jar full of flies in a container of hot, soapy water for 10 minutes.
Two more very effective methods
Red wine is another ingredient that attracts flies a lot. A little residue left in the wine bottle will be enough for flies to accumulate there. It will be a death trap for them as they will begin to drown in the leftover wine.
Alternatively, you can place the wine in a container and cover the carafe with stretch wrap with holes in it.
The last trap is old and is the one used by grandmothers. You will need 50 cl of milk, 100 grams of cane sugar and 50 grams of ground black pepper.
Pour the pepper, milk and sugar into a pan and simmer slowly for 10 minutes. Then, pour the mixture into empty plates and arrange them throughout the house.
Attracted by the mixture, the flies will become trapped and drown in the solution. To make it even more effective, you can add a drop or two of dish soap to prevent flies from leaving the surface.
