Follow these steps to do it correctly.
Kalanchoe is a very common succulent: it is an easy plant to grow, suitable even for the inexperienced, and characterized by colorful and long-lasting flowers.
To propagate it there are several steps , simple and specific, but fundamental for the success of the operation.
So let’s see how to do it.
- Season: To best propagate this plant, a mild temperature is essential, neither too hot nor too harsh. For this reason it is advisable to do it in early spring.
- Soil: For Kalanchoe cuttings, loose, draining soil is ideal, to avoid the accumulation of excess water.
- Cuttings: choose mature branches and make a clean and precise cut. If there are flowers, they must be removed; as well as the lower leaves. Also, be sure to use clean and disinfected scissors. Place them in the soil approximately 1 cm deep.
- Water: Wet immediately after inserting the twigs into the soil, but make sure not to overdo it. A small amount of water will be enough, otherwise the twigs will rot before developing roots.
- Position: Place the pot in a shady area, away from direct light for at least a week continuing to water as needed.
- Roots: After 10-15 days the cuttings will have developed small roots. At this point, transplant them individually into a pot.
