Succulent plants, how to reproduce them with a single leaf: even a nurseryman dreams of results like this
Succulent plants belong to the Crassulaceae family, they are present in almost all homes, they beautify them and elegantly fill balconies.
They are a favorite of all women, even those who don’t have good green thumbs because they don’t require much effort or who knows what care to make sure they don’t die.
To ensure that succulent plants survive, simply place them in a bright location and water enough to keep the soil always moist. It has no weak points and as it grows it can show different shades ranging from dark green to pink.
Succulent plants, how to reproduce them to beautify every corner of the house without spending a single cent
If you have an Echeveria it is good to know that it is possible to reproduce it to have many plants and beautify the entire house in a few minutes.
They are not difficult procedures, in fact they are very simple, suitable for anyone. It takes very little to fill the balcony, terrace or garden with many beautiful plants that do not require any attention .
Multiplication by suckers, safe, simple and fast plant reproduction
You can opt for the sprout multiplication technique, which requires little time and guarantees excellent results. This technique only bears fruit in the month of March . It is enough to choose a mature plant, at least one year old, and you must focus especially on the “suckers”, that is, the “daughter plants” that grow on one side and are attached to it.
They are very easily recognized because they are similar to the main plant , shaped like a rose, but much smaller. After having identified them, they are detached from the mother plant, separating the roots from those of the plant. To do this, simply remove the roots very delicately. If you find it difficult with your hands, use sterilized scissors.
Once the shoots have been removed, plant them in a pot filled with sand and peat and place them in a place in the sun, but not under direct light. It is important that the temperature is constant, around 20°C. Then moisten the soil without exaggerating . Little by little the succulent plant will begin to grow and become a real new plant. Only then can you return home and proceed as you did with the mother succulent plant .
Second method: multiplication by cuttings.
The second method, as simple as the previous one, is less effective and its success is not 100% guaranteed.
Simply separate a leaf from the plant by gently pulling on it . You should choose one that is large, thick and healthy enough. After removing it, plant it burying the basal part. It should be planted in a pot filled with sand and peat. The amounts of sand and peat should be equal. Then, moisten the soil and place the seedling in a bright place . The temperature should be between 15 and 18 °C.
After a few weeks, the roots should have appeared , guaranteeing the development of new leaves that will allow the succulent plants to reproduce indefinitely. When the plant has grown enough, it will need to be transplanted into a larger pot.
This is a more difficult method than the others . There’s no guarantee it will succeed, so if it goes wrong, you can always try again. Or you can try to change the method by choosing a simpler one.
Multiplication by seeds, traditional method.
The traditional method, slow but safe, and which also allows you to observe the different growth phases of succulent plants, is multiplication by seeds. In this case the best period is between January and March. You must take a vase and fill it with 2 parts sand and one part soil.
The seeds are buried one centimeter apart, so that they are far enough away from each other. It is important to always keep the soil moist and leave the succulent plant in the sun, even if it is not exposed to direct light, at a temperature of no lower than 16°C. It will take 3 weeks before you can notice the first sprouts. Only after the first month will the plant begin to give great satisfaction. That is why we must not lose hope.
It will only need to be transplanted when it has reached the appropriate size and has become a plant the size of the others. Then you can start from scratch and try to plant another one. These methods are free, all more or less simple and do not require effort or too much time. All it takes is a little patience and then the plants take care of themselves.
