Scratches on the parquet, this way it is impeccable: 1 product is enough

Scratches on parquet have always been a headache for the owners of this wonderful type of floor. In this way the problem is solved in a few minutes.

The choice of this floor is based on the philosophy of a type of material that aims to  enhance the advantages of natural floors.

Nothing compares to solid wood or plywood floors in terms of  warmth, style and insulation. It is the most elegant and durable floor and, if it deteriorates, it can be restored and it will be like new.

But be careful, the  correct maintenance of our parquet  is not always an easy task, especially in homes with pets or very small children.

What to do with scratches on the parquet?

When caring for the parquet, it is also important to keep in mind that the durability and resistance of the parquet  depends largely on its quality and how it is subsequently maintained and cared for.

The parquet is made up of wooden planks of approximately one centimeter. For its installation it is necessary to lift the previous floor and, above all,  paint it.

The quality of the paint and its periodic renewal depend on the degree of conservation of the floor over time.

But how do you  remove scratches from parquet once they have already occurred? Let’s find out which DIY systems to use to restore the parquet and quickly improve its appearance.

Superficial scratches

The first thing we must do in this case is  check the depth of the scratch. If you are lucky and it is shallow, you can try to repair it with a repair fluid (sold in all types of DIY stores).

It is important to check very carefully before using it that it is the same color as the floor in your home. For this reason, before pouring it on the rayon, a tip is  to test it in a  secluded corner of the floor to make sure it is the perfect color.

You can also proceed alone and if it was a door that was scratched, first we must find out why it happened and  eliminate the problem,  then we take  a stick of wax of the same color  , or as similar as possible to our parquet. .

At this point  we melt, with a heat source  such as a lighter, a little wax that we drop  on the scratch  . You can also use several sticks of various colors  to obtain the desired tone.

We follow the grain of the wood to give a more natural effect, if necessary we recreate the grain with a stick. Once the wax is dry, remove the excess with very fine sandpaper and finally  clean with a damp microfiber cloth.

Now we can restore the shine removed with the sandpaper by treating the parquet with  a quick and effective homemade product, beeswax.

We will have to melt the  beeswax in a bain-marie  and add a little  linseed oil  and the floor will be shiny again!

Fake laminate parquet

Laminate, if you cannot buy real wood parquet, can also  have marks and scratches  . In this case, to solve the problem we can rely on  classic wax crayons.

First, as with the wooden floor, we clean the area,  removing any dust or other debris.

Once we found the crayon that matched the laminate color, we rubbed it until the scratch was filled. Finally,  remove excess crayon with a clean cloth and buff.
