Flies in summer are a real torment! Windows wide open to let the air circulate as much as possible and bring a trickle of wind to the warmth are an invitation for them to dwell with us. But they don’t know that they are uninvited guests.
Even if our house is shiny, there are no traces of food, dust or incrustations of any kind, these insects, always in search of new spaces, sit or buzz around, bothering and disturbing our peace.
Obviously, it would be advisable not to poison the environment with chemical insecticides. Although effective, they contain substances harmful to our health and that of the planet and make the rooms in which we stay unbreathable. Let’s avoid them as much as possible. Instead, we turn to natural remedies.
In this sense, there is a really ingenious trick, at no cost or almost at no cost, non-toxic, but effective : the cotton ball method.
Here we explain how to implement it!
Flies: get rid of them with the cotton ball method
The cotton ball method will make our four walls inhospitable in just a few minutes , without contaminating, safely and effectively.
However, to put it into practice, we need to obtain an essential oil. In this case, the choice should preferably fall on lemongrass. Its pungent smell, so pleasant to us, repels flies (and other insects) almost instantly. The sense of smell of these little animals, in fact, is very sensitive and does not tolerate such intense fragrances. However, if you prefer, you can also use lavender , mint or lemon, which are also ideal for our purpose.
Dip a cotton ball into the wood and place it near windows , placing it on balustrades or hanging it from the ceiling. We will see them leaving our house in no time.
If you don’t have any type of essential oil on hand, you can use white wine vinegar. It has a similar function and will free you from its presence without harming you.
Would you like to further enhance the effect of these natural pest control agents? Surround yourself with plants like lavender, basil, and calendula. They will create a kind of shield for your home and you will be able to live your summer without the annoying company of insects.
