Multipurpose, economical and ecological detergent: how to prepare it DIY.
This DIY detergent is composed, as already mentioned, of sodium carbonate and algae soap.
The first is not synonymous with baking soda, but it is a distant cousin: it is a sodium salt of carbonic acid, and written like that it makes your wrists tremble. In reality, it is a simple NON-caustic soda , that is, lye , the same one that has been used to wash clothes since the Middle Ages.
It is highly degreasing, cleaning, whitening and sanitizing. It comes as a white, crystalline, odorless powder to dissolve in water and costs very little. A one kilo package ranges between 4 and 6 euros, but there really is a lot.
Seaweed is a yellow coconut oil loaf with incredible cleaning properties, perfect for home cleaning.
To these two ingredients you must add an essential oil of your choice to obtain a unique fragrance: we recommend lavender or lemon to spread a fresh and intoxicating fragrance everywhere.
The quantities to prepare our multipurpose mixture are:
- 1/4 of seaweed soap or Marseille soap;
- 800 ml tap water or demineralized water
- 1 tablespoon soda (sodium carbonate)
- 20 drops tea tree oil or lavender essential oil (optional)
Pour half a liter of water into a saucepan and bring to a boil . Meanwhile, break up the seaweed soap with your hands. Turn off the gas and put it in the pot, stir to dissolve it.
Separately, in a container, put the remaining 300 ml of water and the sodium carbonate ; Mix well, then add the mixture to the yellow soap mixture. At this point, perfume everything with an essence of your choice. Let cool completely, then transfer to a spray bottle and use on any surface.
If it thickens, shake it vigorously to dissolve any deposits.
Everything will shine like new!
