What are we talking about? Let’s find out together!
Bag full of water hanging in the house: here’s why everyone does it
With spring in the air, beautiful days of light and sunshine, it is instinctive to open the windows to enjoy the season of rebirth. Unfortunately, however, we have to deal with the entry of insects of all kinds and among the most annoying we cannot fail to mention flies.
In addition to being annoying, these parasites bring germs and bacteria inside our walls, it is very important to discourage them from even entering! The point is that we cannot hinder the air we breathe and the environment by spraying chemical insecticides. Although they are instantly effective, they release toxic substances for the environment and for us.
A group of Californian researchers has scientifically proven that all you need is a clear plastic bag full of water hanging in your home. To make this trick even more effective, it is also advisable to put three balls of aluminum foil or 3 coins inside.
This ploy will act as a mirror for the flies: your reflected image will scare them away and immediately scare them away.
If, then, you want to perfume your home and at the same time prevent the entry of these insects, try adding 5/10 drops of eucalyptus oil to the diffuser, it will scare away flies and mosquitoes.
Or, place a saucer on the windowsill and sprinkle it with black peppercorns. This trick will also keep them away, as will basil seedlings. The aroma of its leaves, so welcoming to us, is a real deterrent for them.
But the thing doesn’t end there. You can make a natural insecticide based on fresh mint (about ten leaves) and white vinegar (500 ml). Mix the two ingredients and spray them in the rooms with a container fitted with a spray nozzle.
Finally, if you want to complete the job of DIY fly paper pest control , mix water, sugar, and honey in a saucepan. Bring to the boil, then cut an A4 sheet of paper into many strips and spread them with the mixture you just made. Leave them near the windows, place a saucer and you can finally feel free to experience spring without the annoying presence of flies.
