Expired eggs, don’t throw them away: use them to surprise yourself
Expired eggs are a little drama that we all go through sooner or later.
We buy them, sure that at home they can only be missing for a light omelette or a restorative zabaglione. Then, perhaps, we forget them and when a sudden desire overcomes us, the frustration of having wasted them takes over.
What a pity! But let’s not get caught up in the tantrums and absolutely NOT throw them away.
Certainly, the expiration date must be slavishly respected: eggs that are no longer fresh can cause salmonella and should NEVER be consumed. But we can reuse them alternatively, thus solving some problems with natural remedies and zero waste, that is, without waste.
Let’s find out how!
Expired eggs, do not throw them away: used like this they are wonderful
To turn waste into a valuable ally to solve some household problems, let’s store expired eggs and use them that way!
Let’s divide them separating the whites and the reds and let’s not throw away the shells. They are perfect for fertilizing the soil: combine them with coffee grounds, banana peels and we will get a truly phenomenal compost for plants, because it will keep pests away and.
Now we beat the egg whites until they are firm, as we would do for a cake for example, but without adding salt or sugar! We will get “chiarata”, an old grandmother’s remedy to treat minor trauma and bruises. All we have to do is spread them over the painful area and wrap them with a bandage to find immediate relief.
Finally, with the yolks, we can make an excellent hair mask. Mix them with a tablespoon of oil and a tablespoon of warm water, never hot, so as not to cook them. Emulsify and spread the mixture from roots to ends. Leave it on for ten minutes, then rinse (always with warm water) and wash the back of your neck as usual.
And now that we know all the possible uses for expired eggs, we will never throw them away again.
