Scratches on steel: the remedies that few people know

Unfortunately, scratches are often noticeable on the steel. In our homes, this material is ubiquitous: stove, sink, faucets, everything shines and shines again when new.

But from the first uses, you can notice the damaged areas.

Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon and is, by far, the most used metal, the easiest to shape and one of the most resistant, but also one of the most easily damaged.

Therefore, it should be treated with caution. Do not use abrasive sponges or overly aggressive detergents.

Do not leave it in contact with caustic and corrosive substances such as Coca-Cola, tomatoes, salt, tomato or lemon juice,

Clean it with a neutral detergent, rinse it and dry it with a microfiber cloth.

But what if the damage has already been done? Fix it like this!

If the scratches on the steel are small, try applying a little  vegetable oil,  then rub with household paper and polish with a soft cloth.

When, on the other hand, the damage is caused by water that is too limey, then it is better to moisten the kitchen towels with  white vinegar and let them sit for an hour or more. After the time required for installation, rinse the surface and dry it with a cloth.

You can also treat steel with the  paste that auto painters  use  . Spread a small nut on a cotton ball and rub gently. The abrasive particles, in this case, act like a file and will smooth out any irregularities. Then polish with a soft cloth as usual. This phase is very important to recover the shine and should always be repeated at the end of each operation.

Lastly, try  the toothpaste.  It may seem like an original and sui generis solution, but it will surprise you. It should never be used pure. Dilute it with a little water to soften it, then rub the mixture with a microfiber cloth. Try it on pots, sinks, faucets. You will notice that the scratches will fade immediately, continue until they fade, then rinse, dry and polish.

And everything will shine again!
