Lemon on the broom: this is a foolproof trick from grandma!

What you are about to discover is a secret trick of our grandmothers, who used lemon juice on the broom. Now, you may think, the broom is now an obsolete tool, because it has been replaced by the more innovative and powerful vacuum cleaner. However, we are willing to bet that in your home, each of you has one: whether for a quick sweep in the kitchen after lunch, for a copper sweep on terraces or balconies, it is never missing from the closet.

Lemon juice, on the other hand, is a powerful antibacterial, with polishing, softening and whitening properties. It sanitizes and cleans like chemical, toxic and polluting industrial products, but it is harmless to our health and that of the planet. But what does it have to do with the broom?

Let’s find out together!

Lemon on the Broom – This is a grandma trick that will get the whole house doing a double take!

Whether for occasional and sporadic use, or continuous use, the broom must be in excellent condition to perform its task in the best possible way. The soft bristles collect crumbs and dust, the hard ones simply move them. Not only that, you must have a clean and sanitized tool to avoid carrying dirt to other places in the house.

How can we guarantee all this at once? With 3 lemons.

Squeeze them and strain the juice into a saucepan. Put it on gas and cook over low heat to boil. Turn off the gas and let it cool, then distribute it over the broom bristles. To make it easier for you, we suggest decanting it into a spray container and steaming it for even application.

Now let the broom air dry for at least an hour before using it. You will find it sanitized and with very soft bristles, ready to support you in your efforts. In addition, by passing it over the floor, you will sanitize it thanks to the antibacterial action of lemon.

Repeat this at least once a week to ensure a thorough clean.

Remember, however, that this trick only works on soft-bristled brooms as far as care goes, but on hard-bristled ones (for outdoors, to be clear) it will still ensure the disinfecting effect of the lemon.

Then use the leftover juice to clean the sink and stove, it will make them shiny and free of germs and bacteria.
