The presence of insects in a home causes many nuisances. Between fly attacks, mosquito bites and bacteria transmitted by cockroaches, life quickly becomes unbearable. In this case, it is necessary to react quickly to avoid the invasion of these unpleasant creatures.

Fortunately, there are several effective methods that are not dangerous to your health or the environment. Here’s how you can easily make your own insecticides with the products you use every day at home.

1 – Homemade insect traps

Unlike commercial insect traps, these are eco-friendly, cost next to nothing, and are terribly effective.

Apple Cider Vinegar Trap

You will need:

– Apple cider vinegar or balsamic vinegar – Liquid dish detergent – A glass bowl – Plastic film – A toothpick.

Pour 2 to 3 cm of apple cider vinegar or balsamic vinegar into the bowl. Then add a few drops of liquid dish detergent and shake to dissolve it. If you place the bowl in the infested area in the evening, the next day you will find many dead insects. It seems that the dark and cool of the night attract them most.

Flies and other insects are attracted to vinegar by its odor, which resembles that of rotting fruit. When they come close to feed, they drown from the detergent.

Fruit Trap:

Place an old piece of unpeeled fruit in the bowl. Cover it well with plastic film. Make several small holes in the plastic with a toothpick. Fruit flies will enter the trap and will not be able to get out.

2 – 100% natural spray

This is a simple, chemical-free, and inexpensive solution to get rid of these unwanted visitors once and for all.

Ingredients :

– ½ glass of vinegar – ½ glass of olive oil. – ½ glass of shampoo.

How to use:

Pour the 3 ingredients into a spray bottle and shake the mixture. All that remains is to spray the liquid in different corners of the house.

3 – A lavender essential oil repellent

Place a few drops of lavender essential oil on a sponge, place it in a spot frequented by flies and let it act. Repeat the operation when the smell has disappeared.

4- A natural repellent with lemon and cloves

This grandmother’s trick consists of cutting a lemon (preferably green) in half and then inserting about fifteen cloves on each side. The mixture of the two perfumes is a natural repellent against mosquitoes and flies. After a few days, the lemon pulp changes color and takes on a brown hue. This process must be repeated every week.
