Tips for freezing citrus fruits correctly

Although  citrus fruits  such as lemons can be found on market stalls all year round, it is possible to freeze them to always have them on hand.

Lemons are not only used in cooking for a wide variety of recipes, but also for cleaning the house or for caring for our skin.

The following tips will show you how to store lemons to keep them fresh and fragrant and how to  freeze them  to always have them on hand.

Lemon peel  : The first thing to do is wash the lemons well with  cooking soda  dissolved in a bowl of water. Leave the lemons to soak for at least  15 minutes  then rinse them. Dry them well with a clean cloth or kitchen paper.

Remove the zest with a large-holed grater or small knife and place in a plastic bag or freezer-safe airtight container.

Lemon juice  : Once the zest has been removed, divide the lemon in half and squeeze the juice with a citrus press. Then, strain the juice through the strainer and then, pour it into  previously washed and dried ice cubes.  Once the juice cubes are well frozen, transfer them to a food bag and place them immediately in the  freezer . This way, you will always have  lemon juice  on hand to make all your recipes.

Lemon slices  : You can also  freeze lemon slices . To do this, wash the lemons well and cut them into slices. Freeze them on a tray and then place them in a plastic freezer bag. You can use them to flavor a dessert or to flavor one of your favorite dishes.
