Here’s how to grow a kiwi tree in a pot!

Delicious and fresh, kiwis come from the Asian continent. Italy is the third largest producer in the world, after China and New Zealand.

But did you know that it is now possible  to grow kiwis in pots at home  thanks to a variety of smaller plants? If the idea of planting kiwis at home appeals to you, I will explain in detail  how to grow them in pots.

How to grow a young kiwi in a pot?

Before starting, it is good to know that a kiwi produces fruit for 3-5 years . To obtain a plant you need seeds , available in nurseries or on the Internet. However, it is also possible to purchase pre-formed seedlings.

So opt for a large pot, 45-50 cm high , with drainage holes. If the plant grows out of the pot, you can move it to a larger pot.

The kiwi needs some kind of support because it can reach several meters in height. However, if you prune it correctly, you will be able to control this height.

Choose well-drained soil, rich in organic matter and with a slightly alkaline pH, to grow your kiwis. This way you will get a healthy plant and a good harvest.

To ensure your plant grows in the best possible conditions, place it in a bright area of the house. If the plant is placed outdoors, it must be protected from frost.

As for the plant’s soil, it is necessary to always keep it moist without overwatering. Excessive accumulation of water can cause the roots to rot.

If you follow all these tips to the letter, you will be able  to have a beautiful kiwi tree at home  and harvest the fruits at the right time.
