Have you received a beautiful bouquet of flowers and want your flowers to stay fresh longer? If the right methods are not adopted, the flowers can wither in a few days. Today I will share some easy formulas from my florist to extend the life of natural potted flowers. Some natural tricks that you can’t do without!
Choose a suitable vase
To make your bouquets last, you should start by choosing the right vase. If the vase is too small, the flowers will suffer from lack of space. As a result, aeration will be insufficient and the flowers will quickly wither. As a general rule, opt for a vase that is at least half as long as the cut stems. Before use, you should clean the container with warm water.
Use baking soda
When the vase is ready, don’t put the flowers in it right away. You need to cut 1cm off the end of the stems. Next, pour 1 teaspoon of baking soda into the vase water. Mix well before placing the flowers. This way, they will last as long as possible .
Add the sugar
Put a pinch of sugar in the jar water. The function of this natural ingredient is to nourish the flower stems so that they do not decay prematurely. This trick will keep your flowers fresh and natural for several days. They will keep their gorgeous colors without fading.
Use water at the right temperature
The temperature of the water in the vase greatly affects the lifespan of the flowers. If you put tulips and daffodils in the vase, add 5 to 8 centimeters of water. Flowers with flexible stems, such as lilies, are very sensitive to water temperature. Therefore, it is necessary to use water that is neither too hot nor too cold, reaching halfway up the stems.
Cutting the stem
If you want to keep your bouquets for several days, take a pair of scissors and cut the stems obliquely, removing about two centimeters every two days. This way the sap flows better and the flowers stay fresh for longer.
Use black carbon
A small piece of black charcoal in the vase can help prolong the life of your natural flowers.
