Here’s the best tip for knowing if an avocado is ripe without opening it! It’s perfect indoors

You need an avocado for your lunch recipe, but alas,  they’re still hard as a rock . And the next day you are surprised to find them overripe and soggy.

Luckily, there’s a clever trick to finding out if an avocado is fit for consumption.

When buying an avocado, you need to know if it is ripe to the touch. An unripe avocado feels firm to the touch, while a ripe avocado is softer when crushed .

If it is not ripe when purchased, the avocado can take  up to a week to ripen . If it’s a ripe, uncut avocado, it can be perfect  in three days or less .

How do you tell if an avocado is ripe?

To check how ripe your avocado is when you buy it, here is an  inevitable tip . Instagram user @mommy.life.squad shared this method on the web.

Here’s what he said: “I bet you don’t know that lawyers… pinch the cap or the little tip on top:

If it’s white, it’s rotten. If it’s brown, it’s about to spoil. And if it’s green, it’s perfect.

Also, if the tip or stem does not come off easily, the fruit is not yet ready for consumption.

While hundreds of people have appreciated this tip, some have commented that it’s a big mess.

User @12lizzie12 said: “Everyone squeezes and bruises avocados in supermarkets all the time. Just check the cap and if it doesn’t come off, leave it for someone else. “

As for @thicccviking, he wrote: “I only make this if I plan to eat it the same day. “.

User @bespoke added: “I think people only make it at home after purchasing it. “

How do you store half an opened avocado?

Adults should eat no more than half an avocado a day.

And to preserve the other half of the avocado, you have  several formulas to choose from .

If you need to store an already cut avocado, squeeze some lemon or lime juice onto the exposed flesh and store it in an airtight container or cling film to prevent it from darkening.

In reality, an opened avocado turning brown is not a sign of spoilage. It’s just a chemical reaction that occurs when the pulp reacts with oxygen in the atmosphere.

Also, you should  leave the pit in the cut avocado to prevent all the pulp from darkening.
