he cyclamen period is, for plant lovers, one of the most beautiful of the year.
The white , red or purple petals of this plant decorate its foliage like sweet brush strokes but… not everything is always as simple as it seems!
And that’s all it takes for your own cyclamens to lose their beautiful flowers and, unfortunately, often even their leaves to begin to inexorably wither. But remedying this is possible, as long as you act in time! We advise you now what to do .
Change of place
The main cause of cyclamen wilting is a temperature-related problem. Many people make the mistake of storing it in a cold place, thinking that the plant is resistant to low temperatures .
In fact, cyclamen prefers intermediate temperatures , between 13 and 18 °C . It is precisely at these temperatures when it manages to flower.
For this reason, avoid having this plant outdoors starting in late autumn , when temperatures remain low . Our advice is to transport it indoors , in a room that is not excessively artificially heated.
More water
Another cause of cyclamen wilting is water shortage .
Certainly, in the cold months , watering should be less frequent since the plant has a lower need for hydration. However, watering should not be stopped completely.
Our advice is to always check the state of the land. When the soil seems dry or completely dry, water the plant immediately: you will see the cyclamen recover in the blink of an eye!
You can water by the classic method, that is, from above , or by immersion , that is, by submerging the cyclamen with the entire pot in a basin or a sink with 6-8 cm of water and holding it for about 10 minutes : period of time necessary for the plant to absorb the water it needs through the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot.
If, in addition to wanting to recover cyclamen , you want to make it bloom for a long time , you can also follow the advice in this video :

Give them more light
We now come to another common cause of cyclamen wilting: low light .
When we have this plant at home, we often keep it too far from windows or other sources of natural light . Cyclamen actually needs a good daily dose of indirect natural light .
In the absence of sufficient light, the leaves of the plant turn yellow and fall . Ideally, keep the plant on a window sill that faces neither east nor west, or whose glass is covered by a filter curtain .
If the cyclamen is wilted , immediately place it in a brighter location so that its foliage regains its former deep green color.
Remove dried flowers and leaves
To facilitate the recovery of a withered cyclamen , you must give new space to its foliage.
That is why you should remove from the plant those flowers and leaves that have not fallen spontaneously. You can do this by simply plucking them with your fingers or even using small garden shears .
Remember that removing dead leaves is also a way to limit the risk of diseases or infections developing on the plant.
