Many clean or rather arrange the food inside only when it is time to put the new purchases inside. In reality, the refrigerator should be cleaned frequently, because bacteria proliferate very easily in these types of places.

Having a dirty refrigerator is certainly not hygienic or safe for the food in it.

Note: even if the refrigerator is cleaned often, remember to seal each food item to avoid any type of contagion.

What to use to clean the refrigerator

We have different types of products on the market, however, when it comes to household tasks, it is always recommended to use  natural ingredients  and therefore safe to use. Especially inside the  refrigerator  , since it comes into close contact with our food. This does not mean that we can also use a simple detergent to remove scale and dirt stains.

Homemade methods to clean the refrigerator

As we mentioned, a classic way to clean refrigerator shelves is with a simple cleaner, but here are some other super effective products to help us with the feat:

  • White vinegar:  this ingredient serves  both to eliminate bacteria and to perfectly degrease embedded  walls   . After use, it must be dried well, otherwise mold will form.
  • Lemon:  thanks to citric acid it is a powerful natural disinfectant.
  • Rice:  can be rubbed against walls to remove even the most stubborn scale. The important thing is to always rinse.
  • Salt:  a mixture of  water and salt  is enough to thoroughly remove accumulated dirt.

Whatever product or ingredient you want to use to clean your refrigerator, always remember to rinse and dry the surfaces well. Because? To prevent the proliferation of germs and bacteria, but also the  formation of mold!

The temperature inside the refrigerator.

To avoid the proliferation of bacteria, keep in mind that the temperature inside the appliance varies depending on the shelves, so food must be stored in the appropriate places. On the lower shelves,  for example,  the temperature is colder  and, as you go up, it increases accordingly.

Foods that are already cooked  and must be consumed in a short time should be placed on the upper shelves. On the central shelves we put dairy products  , eggs,   sausages   and cream-based products.

Fruits and vegetables should be placed in the drawers  , so that they are covered.

The spaces on the counters, on the other hand, have a  low temperature  , and we can put  butter and drinks  . Let’s not overload the refrigerator because fresh air circulation is essential for stored food.
