Quince  is the fruit of the quince, a tree native to Asia that also grows in other parts of  the world, including Italy. Our ancestors loved them, but today the quince is almost forgotten.

The quince has a yellow peel and a very pleasant aroma and is mainly used for the preparation of jams, including the famous quince jam.

Despite their taste, quinces contain few calories and are rich in vitamins A, C and the B group as well as minerals such as potassium, phosphorus, iron, calcium and sodium. It also contains fiber, pectins and tannins.

Quinces are rich in pectins and are therefore particularly useful for people suffering from hypercholesterolemia. Potassium helps regulate blood pressure and prevent hypertension.

This excellent fruit also has an astringent effect due to the tannins, which is why it is helpful for diarrhea.

The malic acid in quince has a detoxifying effect and helps eliminate uric acid. The fruit also has expectorant properties that relieve coughs.

Quinces are also diuretic and can improve bowel function. They contain a lot of potassium, making them ideal for preventing cramps and regulating the nervous system, relieving anxiety.

Quince seeds contain mucilage, which helps keep skin moist and  prevent wrinkles  . The seeds can also be used to make a gel that  prevents dandruff  and deeply nourishes the hair. Prepare the gel by boiling a spoonful of seeds in 250 ml of water for a quarter of an hour.
