Aluminum foil is present in every home in the world; it allows you to preserve food in the freezer or refrigerator, preventing it from deteriorating over time. 

In fact  , it is not only useful in the kitchen  , it can solve various problems and also help  polish silver  .

Silver elements are never missing in the home, they are beautiful to look at, they have an  exclusive shine  that makes them unique. Unfortunately, over time they deteriorate and darken. Whether they are valuable pieces,  like grandma’s silverware,  or jewelry purchased at a low price, we always try to take care of them to prevent them from darkening.

Cutlery darkens over time, so

Over time or  simply with prolonged contact with the skin,  on several occasions, for example when going to the beach, when exposed to the sun, cutlery rusts and  very annoying dark spots appear  .

But don’t worry, there are simple and free remedies to implement, which will allow you to have  your cutlery like new again  , without necessarily having to resort to a professional.

How to have a perfect silver using aluminum foil

To have the  perfect cutlery,  starting with the  cutlery that allows us to eat,  it is simply necessary to use aluminum foil. We take a bowl large enough to immerse the cutlery to be treated,  a sheet of aluminum foil  , a little salt and boiling water.

It is a good idea that the container is sturdy enough since boiling water will be poured into it. It is advisable  to choose hard plastic  or ceramic bowls, which undoubtedly provide greater guarantee.

The sheet of aluminum foil should be large enough to cover the inside of the bowl, so you will need to  adjust it depending on the bowl you have at your disposal.

Procedure to make cutlery shine

To make your cutlery shine, first  line the inside of the bowl with aluminum foil  . The shiny part goes on top. At this point, place the cutlery inside, spaced apart, and cover them with fine salt. Then pour boiling water over it, covering the salt, but always be  careful not to burn yourself.

Leave it for a few hours so that the water, salt and aluminum can act and  eliminate the oxidation  . It will take at least 4/5 hours. Once the 5 hours have passed, take out the cutlery, making sure the water is no longer too hot. Then rinse them under running water and dry them with a woolen cloth. The cutlery will be beautiful, practically like new, thanks to grandmother’s old remedy.

Other simple and free remedies

The remedy described is a  grandmother’s trick and  represents one of the most effective solutions. However, it is necessary to know that there are many others, equally simple to implement. We usually have what we need at home.

First you need a   delicate and scented Marseille soap . Soak the cutlery, water and 3 tablespoons of liquid soap are enough to make it shine again. Or baking soda, delicate and effective. Place the cutlery in a bowl,  cover with baking soda  and pour hot water over it. Leave it on overnight, then rinse it off and you’re done.

Then there is the  toothpaste  ,  you put it on a soft bristle brush  and gently rub it on the cutlery. Then rinse. If the cutlery does not shine bright enough, repeat the operation. Even white vinegar, which comes in handy on many occasions, makes the  silver shiny and shiny,  the end result is fantastic. Simply soak the cutlery in hot water and add a glass of white vinegar. Leave it on overnight and then rinse.
