Beginners Orchid Care Advice

Orchids are beautiful flowers that make any balcony or garden fabulous, as long as they are cared for.

Orchids  seem sophisticated  , refined, they are considered noble flowers. They are usually given as gifts, but there are also those who, out of passion,  grow them at home  .

Orchids, some information about the plant.

Orchids can be placed  in a boring corner of the house, to give a touch  of  refined elegance and joy. These flowers are of tropical origin, the classic plant that we know has very large and white flowers, which are usually chosen for weddings. They are ideal for bridal bouquets or as floral decorations for the reception venue or church.

The other varieties are also beautiful, that is, the colored ones, which present soft, delicate and cheerful shades, or bright colors, which create  particular textures.  They are plants that  need attention and care  , but not excessively. There are many others that can be considered more challenging and problematic.

Before buying or planting it, it is necessary to identify the appropriate position for the orchid, because the plant  is suitable for bright places  , it loves light, but  it should not remain under the sun’s rays for a long time.

How to get lush orchids

Orchids  are beautiful, especially when the plant blooms  and produces many colorful flowers. To achieve this result, it is necessary to feed it properly, using fertilizers.  There are those who use fertilizer  , made from egg shells, banana peels, potatoes and those who instead purchase the  indicated fertilizer  .

If you want to make natural fertilizer at home, without spending a lot, you can do it without any difficulty. The preparation is simple and suitable even for those who do not have good gardening hands.

You need ingredients, which we all have at home. One of the most common ingredients is  coffee grounds  , which we usually throw away after making coffee because they are useless. In reality, they are useful, indeed, for those who have a garden, a balcony or a terrace full of plants.

How to prepare natural fertilizer from coffee grounds.

Coffee grounds  are an excellent fertilizer for plants  , very little need to be spread on the ground or in the vase to get an amazing bloom. Coffee grounds contain  a substance capable of making plants grow well  . This is nitrogen. They also keep away snails, ants and snails, which can harm them.

To test its repellent action,  make a circle with coffee grounds  around the orchids. You will immediately notice how ants, snails and snails will change direction in just a few seconds. Alternatively, you can place two cups of ground coffee  in a bucket of water  . Leave it to infuse for a few days. Once this time has passed,  the liquid fertilizer will be ready to be used  on orchids and many other plants, not just ornamentals.

Where funds can be used and where they cannot

Finally, they can be added to waste material in a home composter and used not only to feed and grow orchids, but also for aromatic herbs, such as parsley, basil, pepper,  garlic  . They are excellent for berries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries. Then also for other flowers such as camellias, azaleas, lilies, hydrangeas, magnolias. Lastly, they are also great for vegetables, such as cucumber, eggplant, squash, and zucchini.

However, they should not be used on tomato, radish, sunflower and broccoli plants because, according to  a study carried out by the University of Melbourne  , they produce a negative effect. In fact, the funds increase the  pH of the soil.  Therefore, they should be disposed of in soils that are already acidic in themselves, even if vegetables, plants and flowers that could benefit from them are planted there.
