Clothes hanging at home, in the right place: here they dry in 10 minutes

In winter, you often have to hang your clothes at home and store them for a long time before they dry. Here’s how to make them dry quickly.

If we talk about winter, we don’t just think about the cold, rain, snow and weather. At home, for those who do not have a dryer,  winter is also often associated with clothes that never dry  due to rain and humidity. In addition, you always find clotheslines all over the house and radiators with clothes hanging on them. There are many solutions that we try to improvise so that clothes dry better during bad days. Unfortunately,  very often home-dried clothes can cause dampness and bad smells  , and here we are at the starting point.

Drying clothes in winter is a big problem

As much as we try to make the most of sunny days,  the few weak rays of the sun are often not enough for heavier fabrics. And here we again look for the most unthinkable solutions to dry a sweater that we urgently need, instead of a blanket.

Surely  those who can afford to buy a dryer are at an advantage  , they will not have problems with the weather, the sun or anything else and with a few small precautions they will be able to dry their clothes in a short time and without even spending too much. a lot. But there are also those who cannot or do not want to buy a dryer and prefer the classic clothesline. And there is no shortage of solutions and tricks to make drying easier too. Let’s see how we can fix clothes that never dry  .

Tricks to make your clothes dry faster in winter

Of all the precautions that can be taken to help dry clothes,  one of the most important is the washing machine  . Specifically, we are talking about an essential function, the spin cycle, which is sometimes underestimated, if not avoided, so as not to end up with excessively wrinkled garments that then require the subsequent plague of ironing.

Instead, the spin cycle is a key element for fast drying. By removing excess water from fabrics with a good spin cycle,  clothes will dry much faster, especially if the spin is done at high speeds  . Furthermore, if you give each piece a strong “slap” when you take the clothes out of the washing machine and are careful to hang them well, you will also be able to avoid subsequent ironing.

In addition to spinning, which should always be adopted as the main method, the most suitable method for quick drying is to place  the clothesline directly in front of the radiator  , a hot oven or a fireplace (with due care!). The clothes will dry quickly, which will prevent the formation of bad odors caused by the accumulation of moisture between the fabrics.

The distance between the hanging elements is also very important  . Many times we don’t think about it, but if the clothes do not have enough space and air because they are overlapped or too close together, they will take much longer to dry. So make sure you spread the clothes well and  lay them flat on the rope.

Where to place the clothesline at home, the best place

As for clothes hanging at home,  the place where you place them is very important  . In fact, the clothesline should be placed in a room that is not at all humid and that is easily ventilated. If you live in a house that has some humidity in all rooms, then  the most suitable place for the clothesline is the bathroom  . Here the heat emanating from the radiators and showers will facilitate the drying of clothes on the clothesline.

Also don’t  forget to dehumidify the room where you will place the clothesline  . No matter how dry it is, the cloths will continue to generate moisture that will be better absorbed, and drying will be faster. If you don’t have a dehumidifier, you can buy one of those with salts that change after a few weeks, or simply make one yourself.

150 grams of coarse salt will be enough to dehumidify a room of approximately 25 m2  , which can be reused several times after drying. To build a home dehumidifier you can use the colander method. You will need a container large enough to fit a strainer with the coarse salt inside. Always  against humidity you can use pink salt lamps  , decorative and excellent for air quality.
