Airy chocolate cream cake from Poland – so inviting

This delicious Polish-style chocolate cream cake, also called wuzetka, is not only visually appealing, but also tastes great – why not try it?

Ingredients (for 12 pieces):

For pasta :

  • 6 eggs
  • 180 g of sugar
  • 90 g of butter
  • 1 and a half teaspoons of baking powder
  • 165 g of wheat flour
  • 50 g cocoa
  • 1 tablespoon of rum

For the cream filling:

  • 700 ml whipped cream
  • 150 g of icing sugar
  • 5 gelatin sheets
  • 3 tablespoons of rum

For the icing:

  • 200 g of dark chocolate
  • 100 ml of whipped cream
  • 100 g butter

Preparation :

1. In the first step, separate the eggs. Beat the egg whites with the sugar until frothy.

2. Place the flour in a separate bowl and mix the cocoa and baking powder until combined. Begin incorporating the dry ingredients into the egg white mixture, followed by the rum. Once everything is well mixed, pour everything into a greased and floured pan. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees and bake the cake on the middle shelf for about 35-40 minutes.

3. In the next step, prepare the cream. Whip it up and add the icing sugar. Soak the gelatine in a little water, then drain it and mix it with the cream. Add the rum and place the cream in the refrigerator to cool.

4. Remove the ready cake from the oven, leave it in the pan for a short time, then turn it out. Cut the puff pastry crosswise to obtain two layers. One should be about 2/3 of the thickness, the other 1/3.

5. In a saucepan, heat 100 ml of cream and add the dark chocolate pieces. Stir until the chocolate has melted, then add the butter and mix.

6. Save some of the cream for later use. Spread the cream on the thinnest part of the dough and cover with the thicker layer. Cover the cake with icing and use some of the reserved cream to make small dots on top. That’s all!

Suggestion :

Do you want to add an extra decoration to your wuzetka, a soft chocolate cake with cream from Poland? Candied cherries are a common addition to this dessert, while chopped pistachios are often sprinkled on the cake to top it off.
