Here’s a great idea for storing cherry stones! They are an unsuspected ingredient for this important preparation!


Kitchen waste can   be great resources if reused correctly. There are myriad ways to  reuse food parts  that until recently no one thought were useful.

Fruit is an excellent example. Citrus peels are  useful ingredients  in many recipes. Peeled lemons can also be used to make jam. Finally, banana peels are a great help both at home and in the garden.

Between spring and summer, there is another fruit that appears on the tables: it is  the cherry.  Sweet and delicate, it is almost impossible to stop eating it. Speaking of cherries, you usually eat the pulp and throw away the  small stone . Yet even this part could prove useful for a very specific purpose.

An ingredient not to be overlooked

Cherry stones can be used in cooking in many ways. You can prepare a  flavored vinegar  that is perfect for seasoning many dishes. They are also used to make a  delicious seasonal liqueur  or to prepare a  refreshing drink . What you think is just a waste could be transformed into a very useful ingredient.

Save the cherry stones because they are an essential ingredient for this very important preparation.

Who would have ever imagined that you could use cherry stones to prepare a tasty side sauce? Well, that’s what I’m about to prepare for you. It is the perfect accompaniment to a red meat dish or as a condiment for an appetizing summer salad.

To prepare this sauce, wash  300 g of cherries  in a solution of lemon and bicarbonate of soda. Remove the stones, dry them and seal them hermetically in a sterilized bag.

Place the cherries, stones and about 60 g of sugar in a saucepan. Leave on the heat for 3 or 4 minutes, then remove the stones. Add a glass of fortified wine. Wait another 20 minutes and, when the contents are thick enough, turn off the heat.

It’s a good idea to save the cherry stones to  make this delicious sauce  that will be a delight at any meal.
