How to Plant Onions in a Plastic Cup
How is it possible for onion plants to grow inside plastic cups ? There are several videos on Youtube in which botanical experts illustrate this trick. The procedure to follow is quick and simple , and allows you to start seeing results after the first 7 days of cultivation.
As for the materials , we will need a transparent plastic glass , or alternatively a vase . Additionally, we will need a box cutter or screwdriver , some soil , onions and a knife .
To start, we cut the onions flat, removing the cap but not the roots , which will be fundamental for what we are going to do. Then we create small holes on the bottom and walls of the pots and fill them with soil . In doing this, however, we leave a little space between the soil and the edge of the pot , about a couple of centimeters.
Once this is done, we shape the surface of the soil with our fingers so as to create a small ditch in the center, inside which we will bury an onion . As regards the position of the onion, it is good to remember that it must be placed with the roots downwards. Finally, we place the pots inside containers or saucers , and water approximately every two days.
By continuing to water we will notice the first green leaves appear after about 7 days , a good sign for the growth of our onion plants !
