HOW TO REMOVE BAD ODORS FROM THE SOFA WITH DIY REMEDIES

Sitting on the  sofa  and smelling  bad odors  is one of the things we really don’t like, especially when we find every possible stratagem to be able to perfume our environment.

Sometimes the bad smell is simply due to the fact that  the windows are not opened too often  or when there is  an animal in the house  that finds its moment of relaxation on the sofa.

In any case, don’t worry because there is a way to remedy all this. Given that  in cases of stains  or an  excessively intense smell  it is  advisable to wash the sofa directly , let’s see  how to perfume it  and remove bad odors with simple ingredients and  DIY remedies!

Ingredients

The ingredients  to  remove odors from the sofa  are few, simple and easily available. In fact, you won’t have to create particularly complicated recipes, I’m sure you already have them at home, especially if you use natural remedies on a daily basis.

  • Demineralised water (1 litre)
  • White vinegar (half a glass)
  • Baking soda (2 tablespoons)
  • Essential oil (1 teaspoon)

Vinegar and bicarbonate  together will be ideal for  saying goodbye to bad smells , so much so that they are also used to get rid of other smells in the house, such as  the one inside the refrigerator  or  the burning smell in the kitchen .

The essential oil , which you will have to choose based on the  fragrance you prefer , will serve to leave a good scent. You can also decide not to wear it if you are only interested in neutralizing bad odors.

Method

Now let’s see the  procedure for preparing this super fragrant and effective mix!

First you will need to get a  spray bottle , so that everything is more practical and you can reuse the mixture again whenever you want.

First dissolve  the bicarbonate in the water  completely, then pour everything into the bottle with the help of a funnel. Then  add the white vinegar  and finally pour in the essential oil.

Shake everything well so as to mix all the ingredients well.

And that’s it, your natural and scented sofa compound is ready!

How to use the mixture

At this point we just have to understand  when and how to use the  prepared mixture in order to  refresh and perfume the sofa .

First of all, it is good to remember that  you cannot spray it every day , but it is advisable to do it  only once a week , after having  dusted the sofa thoroughly  with the vacuum cleaner or other methods.

For example, if you don’t have a vacuum cleaner, you can  try the lid method , which will help you do a  quick clean of the sofa  (and mattress!):

Once you have dusted the sofa, you can  spray the mixture everywhere , even on the cushions. Stand at the right distance from the sofa so as not to wet it excessively. If there are stains, spray the mixture on a microfibre cloth and rub only on the affected area.

Then  leave to dry by holding an open window or balcony . If you have a leather sofa, dry it yourself with a soft cloth and do not direct the jet on the leather, but with the rag.

I remind you again that this remedy does not replace washing the sofa. Therefore, if there are stains that are difficult to remove or strong bad odors, it is advisable to proceed with a thorough cleaning.
