DOES IT SMELL OR SCALE IN THE WASHING MACHINE? DO THIS VACUUM WASHING

The fresh, clean smell is the most important thing we want to smell after a  machine wash cycle .

Unfortunately, there are times that, instead of breathing in that intoxicating scent, we smell  musty ,  musty  or  limescale .

This represents an alarm bell: the appliance is telling us that  it needs a thorough wash  to have it as good as new and get perfect laundry again.

Let’s discover together a  very effective vacuum cleaning  to do at least once a month!

Prepare the solution

To get rid of the smell and limescale from the washing machine, you must first  prepare the solution for empty washing !

What is  this mysterious ingredient  that allows you to remove dirt from top to bottom?

Simple! This is  citric acid , a product extracted from citrus fruits, completely natural and ecological, which is increasingly entering homes due to its effectiveness! You can find citric acid both in DIY stores (or hardware stores), but also online!

Behind the packaging of each box or jar of citric acid there are instructions for use; however in this case you will have to dissolve  150 grams of product in 1 liter of water , preferably  warm and demineralised .

And now your solution will be ready! As you can see in the photo, I preferred to use a nice large jar, but a jug will also work great!Preparing this solution will be quick and easy. Once you try it, it will be your all-purpose home remedy! But I don’t want to spoil anything for you!

Wash empty

The previously prepared compound is the protagonist of our remedy and therefore will be used for empty washing.

In addition to descaling the washing machine drum and pipes from limescale,  citric acid  is also  an excellent anti-odor . However, if you want a scented washing machine, you can add 4 drops of essential oil to the solution.

Pour everything into the basket  and start washing; keep in mind that the higher the temperatures, the better the citric acid will be able to act. There are those who pour it into the drawer, but for me the basket is even more effective!

The optimal temperature for empty washing is  at least 90 degrees .

For other areas of the washing machine

The surprises don’t end here!

In fact, the solution of water and citric acid is not only ideal for doing a thorough vacuum wash, but also  for many other areas of the washing machine.

Let’s see below where you can use it:

  • Drawer : gets dirty very easily, especially in the corners. You will have to spray the mixture on the affected areas and wait about 10 minutes, then use a sponge and you will see that the mold will come away easily!
  • Seal : also in this case we can see the black spots of stagnant water. To remove them, simply spray the solution on a microfiber cloth and rub it vigorously into the folds of the gasket.
  • Filter : fill a cup with the mixture, soak the filter for about 3 hours, then rinse and goodbye to stains!
  • Natural fabric softener : if you prepare the solution of water and citric acid according to the doses indicated at the beginning and add 10 drops of essential oil, you will have obtained a fantastic natural fabric softener!

Other uses of the solution

Those who are most up-to-date on natural remedies will know that, although citric acid is mainly used in the washing machine, it is an excellent ecological way  to take care of the entire home !

It is for this reason that we cannot reduce its use only in the household appliance, but we must also see it in  other  very interesting uses .

Here are the main ones:

  • Mold  (shower, silicone, floor corners, etc.): all you have to do is let the solution act on the dirty areas for about 20 minutes and then use a toothbrush to remove the mold.
  • Anti-limescale : you may have noticed that one of the most popular uses of citric acid is against limescale; so use it in the bathroom or kitchen to remove encrusted stains.
  • Rinse aid for dishwashers : fill the appropriate tray with the mixture and you will have shiny dishes!
  • Bad odors in the drains : pour the solution into the drains and leave to act overnight; Goodbye the next day it stinks!
