If the clothes washed in the washing machine do not smell, this is what you should do

If clothes washed in the washing machine do not smell, this is what you should do

Sometimes it can happen that clothes freshly washed in the washing machine  do not smell  as we expected. There are several reasons why this happens.

First, your  washing machine may be dirty  . How, if the water is always flowing and constantly dealing with cleaning agents? Water creates excess moisture, which in turn creates  mold  , and cleaners leave  residue  that, over time, begins to smell. Therefore, keeping the washing machine clean becomes essential to have a perfect wash.

Let’s see how to make the washing machine clean again and eliminate the problem of smelly clothes.

Clean the washing machine with natural methods

To ensure that our washing machine is washed thoroughly, simply pour  half a cup of baking soda  into the empty container and carry out a wash. Baking soda  manages  to sneak even into places that aren’t accessible with your hands, so it’s a great helper! As an alternative to this product, we can use white wine vinegar, which is also capable of washing deeply and eliminating bad odors.

Hang your clothes on the balcony or in the garden

Now let’s move on to other methods to leave our  clothes smelling good  after washing them in the washing machine.

The first remedy we suggest to get rid of the musty smell is  to hang your clothes outside the home  whenever possible. Not only will they dry faster, especially when it’s sunny, but the fresh air will also help  eliminate musty smells  .

If you don’t have a balcony, you can choose the room that is more ventilated. It is always best   to hang out in a place where there is plenty of air circulation and be careful to never completely close the door  to the room.

Dehumidifier to eliminate musty smell

Using a dehumidifier  is undoubtedly one of the remedies to help us eliminate the musty smell of freshly washed clothes. Not only does it help remove excess moisture in minutes, but it also helps us combat mold growth in our homes. In fact, dehumidifiers can be placed anywhere in the house. In the case of laundry, we can also place it next to the clothesline and turn it on for a few minutes.

The dehumidifier is not a cheap purchase, but it is certainly an excellent  investment  thanks to the prevention of mold, especially in winter.

Heat sources to dry clothes

Heat sources such as radiators   are ideal for removing excess humidity. Simply place your clothes on top, but be careful over time as they may burn.

Baking soda and essential oils

These two ingredients are a good way to prevent clothes from smelling musty during and after drying. Just spray a solution made with 250ml of   water,   15g of   baking soda   and a few drops of your  favorite essential oil  on them. Spraying the mixture directly on hanging clothes will help absorb moisture thanks to the action of baking soda, while the essential oil will perfume the clothes.

Wash clothes so they don’t smell bad

Let’s go back to the washing machine. Once you have cleaned it – also check the back of the detergent drawer, filter, etc. – we can do the laundry with peace of mind. But if we want to be 100% sure that the clothes do not turn out  bad  , we use  baking soda  to wash them.

Let’s say this green product is best for  white clothes  , since it is a bleach. But don’t worry, because bay leaves  also help us have a super smelly laundry. That’s right, thanks to its properties it eliminates  bad odors. Bay leaves can be added directly to the steamer basket.
