Brilliant geraniums, with this trick they will bloom for 10 years without ever wilting

Geraniums are a very popular flower on Italian balconies. But how to make them proliferate? Here’s the trick.

Geraniums are also preferred by those without a green thumb due to their ease of growing and bright colors, and are a must-have for the outdoors.

Geraniums: characteristics and properties

Geraniums, also known  as Pelargonium  , are considered the king of balcony plants. The motivation lies in the fact that they are easy to grow and resistant to different types of climate. Its origins are in South Africa. Precisely from that country  they were imported to Europe  where today they proliferate especially in the Mediterranean area.

There are  different species  of geraniums and each one is characterized by different colors and smells. Although it is notoriously easy to grow, you have to be careful to observe  some precautions  . The first has to do with the climate: be careful because intense cold is poorly tolerated. The minimum temperature is two degrees. Also pay attention to  the exposure  : it is better to place it in semi-shade and never in the shade since the bulbs could bloom halfway (branches with flowers and branches without). A position in full sun, especially in the middle of summer, would not be advisable as the flowers could burn.

Also pay attention to the soil: it must be well drained. However, there are other valid tricks to proliferate your geraniums. You’ll find out which one it is below.

The trick to make them proliferate

For geraniums to bloom all year round, you can follow two simple tricks. For the first thing, you will need the  iodine tincture  , just the one that heals wounds, along with a bottle of clean water. Add a drop of tincture of iodine for each liter of water. The bottle will be shaken. Iodine helps prevent plant diseases. With the mixture obtained, you can proceed to regularly water the plant, with 50/100 ml each time, along the part of the ground that borders the pot. Be careful not to overdo it with iodine as you could damage the root of the plant which would burn. Water and iodine can be given for a month, to be repeated periodically.

Another trick is to use  an aspirin tablet. On the tablet, using a spray bottle, spray some water to dissolve it. The dissolved aspirin should be placed in a liter of water. The contents must be shaken well so that the medicine dissolves. The salicylic acid contained in aspirin will allow plants to proliferate because it strengthens the roots. You can spray water and aspirin on the geraniums for a week.

Aspirin also helps prevent the appearance of fungi that are dangerous to the health of the plant. A true health infusion not only for geraniums but also for other non-flowering plants. Seeing is believing.
