Once you have identified the right time to plant courgettes, you need to decide where to plant them in the garden. The chosen location must be in full sun, so a flowerbed in the shade due to a large tree is a bad choice!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It should also be a moist, well-drained location. However, the site does not have to be muddy! Be sure to add compost and organic material to the soil you choose for growing zucchini plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many people don’t know that growing zucchini seedlings is a good option for succession planting because they are not frost hardy. When we think of succession planting, we think of plants that grow from spring to fall, not summer-loving plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zucchini plants break this pattern. These plants grow quickly and the first fruits can usually be harvested 40-60 days after sowing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plant a bunch of 2 or 3 zucchini plants together. This is important because zucchini have flowers that must be pollinated to produce the desired fruit. These flowers open for 1 day. Yes, only 1 day! If pollination fails, you will have no courgettes and that would be a shame. Planting multiple plants together increases the chances of pollination. Now you know that the flowers are open for a day, but did you know that there are male and female flowers on a zucchini plant? The male and female flowers open at the same time, but only one female flower forms a fruit. The male flowers serve only for pollination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In most new plants, the male flowers tend to establish themselves first and then you get frustrated because the plant is full of flowers without any fruit forming. Don’t worry, especially if you see pollinating insects flying around you. The female flowers are coming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
