{"id":101,"date":"2023-11-22T01:52:06","date_gmt":"2023-11-22T01:52:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nanasadvice.com\/?p=101"},"modified":"2023-11-22T01:52:07","modified_gmt":"2023-11-22T01:52:07","slug":"how-to-remove-a-key-broken-in-the-lock-5-tricks-to-avoid-disassembling-everything","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nanasadvice.com\/?p=101","title":{"rendered":"How to remove a key broken in the lock: 5 tricks to avoid disassembling everything"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Minor accidents can happen anywhere and every day.&nbsp;Sometimes due to poor maintenance, manufacturing defects or too much haste.&nbsp;One of the most common accidents is&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>keys breaking and getting stuck in the lock<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The worst thing about this problem is that when it happens with the house keys, the solution cannot be postponed.&nbsp;Before you call a locksmith, you can try these tricks to&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>remove a broken key in the lock without having to disassemble everything<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">First trick<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All you need is a very strong magnet.&nbsp;If the key is stuck in the vertical position, it is very easy to remove it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Put some lubricant on it, then take the magnet and place it on the key to let it work.&nbsp;The key should stick to the magnet and release easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Second trick<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You will need needle nose pliers or scissors with very thin tips.&nbsp;Lubricate the area around the key, then use pliers or scissors to grab the end of the key that is sticking out of the lock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try to carefully remove the key.&nbsp;Do this movement little by little without pulling forcefully: you risk inserting the key deeper into the lock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If the key broke in the lock but the door remained open, you can try one of the following tricks<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">First trick<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If the key is stuck with the door open, look for keys with a very thin tip and, from the opposite side (i.e. inside the house), insert one of the tips of the scissors until it comes into contact with the key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Push inward so the key comes out completely.&nbsp;If you can&#8217;t get it all out, you can use pliers to pull it out completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Second trick<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The trick is similar to the previous one, but instead of scissors we use a different key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By inserting it into the interior lock, the stuck key is pushed outwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Third trick<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It was all the rage on social media precisely because it was so effective.&nbsp;The key must be vertical.&nbsp;Heat a piece of silicone with a lighter until it melts.&nbsp;Immediately place the loose silicone on the lock where the key is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Press firmly for a minute until the silicone has cooled.&nbsp;Then pull back the silicone so the key comes out.&nbsp;Do not pull too hard to avoid tearing the silicone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minor accidents can happen anywhere and every day.&nbsp;Sometimes due to poor maintenance, manufacturing defects or too much haste.&nbsp;One of the most common accidents is&nbsp;&nbsp;keys breaking and getting stuck in the lock&nbsp;&nbsp;.
